سنسور های خازنی نوعی دیگر از سنسورهای مجاورتی می باشند,این سنسورها شباهت زیادیباسنسورهای القایی دارند ,تفاوت ها ی اصلی این سنسور القایی در این است که سنسور القایی یک میدان الکترومغناطیسی تولید می کند,در نتیجه سنسور القایی فقط قابلیت تشخیص مواد فلزی را دارد ولی سنسور خازنی علاوه بر مواد فلزی قابلیت تشخیص مواد غیر فلزی مانند شیشه ,کاغذ,پلاستیک,مایعات و پارچه را نیز دارد
